Honouring the Life of Uqasha Imran (2002–2025)
Uqasha Imran was more than a champion athlete or a dedicated student; she was a vibrant soul whose presence made the world feel larger and kinder. To those who knew her, Uqasha was a “resolute athlete, a loyal friend, a focused professional, and a great humanitarian with a generous heart.”
Tragically, Uqasha’s life was taken in March 2025 following a road accident on the Barton Highway. She was only 22 years old. While her passing left an irreplaceable void, her family and the Canberra community have chosen to transform their grief into a lasting force for good: the Uqasha Imran Foundation.
A Champion in Every Arena
From the age of nine, Uqasha’s greatest passion was Taekwondo. Training at the Choong-Moo Taekwon-do Club, she became a decorated champion, earning her first-degree black belt at just 14. She didn’t just compete; she mentored, teaching younger students the discipline and confidence she had mastered. At the time of her passing, she was just months away from her third-degree black belt—an honour later recognised and awarded to her posthumously.
Beyond the dojang, Uqasha was a high achiever in every aspect of her life:
- The Professional: She was a focused finance student at the University of Canberra and had begun a promising career in financial services.
- The Explorer: She had a boundless curiosity for the world, travelling to over 40 countries and showing deep respect for humanity across all beliefs and cultures.
- The Nature Lover: Whether she was swimming, cycling, or hiking, Uqasha found joy in being active and outdoors.
- The Family Guardian: Known for her maturity, she was the “bonding agent” of her family, always encouraging “bonding time” and serving as the nominated guardian for her siblings.
“Happiness feels muted and joys are searched for, whereas in Uqasha’s presence, these were in abundance.” — Imran Amjad, Uqasha’s Father.

What the Foundation Stands For
The Uqasha Imran Foundation was launched to ensure that Uqasha’s mission—to help others and promote a healthy, active life—continues indefinitely.
Our Core Mission:
- Empowering the Underprivileged: We provide financial assistance to disadvantaged children, with a special focus on supporting young girls in self-defence sports.
- Removing Barriers: The foundation helps cover costs for transport, equipment, and accommodation so that every child has the chance to compete in national and international tournaments.
- Building Community: We support the children of migrant families, helping them find a sense of belonging through sport and healthy activities.
Continuing the Journey
Through annual tournaments held in her name and the ongoing work of the foundation, Uqasha remains a mentor to every child who steps onto the mat. We believe that by fostering discipline, health, and confidence in the next generation, we are keeping Uqasha’s vibrant spirit alive.
Uqasha’s purpose was not lost; it lives on in every child we support.
